Description
500G Heavy Layflat Tubing for Flexible, Stronger Packaging
When you need to pack awkward lengths or make bags to suit individual products, 500G Heavy Layflat Tubing gives you more control over the finished size. It is a continuous tube of polythene that you cut from the reel and seal at either end with a suitable heat sealer.
Made from 125-micron polythene, this heavier grade offers a tougher option than our 62.5-micron medium tubing. The extra film thickness is useful for packing goods that need a more substantial protective sleeve during stockroom handling, storage or dispatch. We manufacture our layflat tubing in the UK.
Instead of buying a separate bag for every product length, you can cut the tubing to match the job. That makes it particularly handy for workshops, trade suppliers and businesses packing a mixture of long or irregular-shaped products.
What Can You Pack with Heavy Layflat Tubing?
- Long components that do not fit standard polythene bags
- Bundles of lightweight-to-medium-weight parts
- Tools or accessories with suitable edge protection
- Goods that need an additional cover in storage
- Repeated product packs cut to a standard length
- Irregular-shaped, non-fragile items awaiting dispatch
Wrap sharp corners before inserting products, and use additional protective packaging where the contents could puncture the film or be damaged in transit.

Available Widths
Choose a flat width that leaves enough room around the packed product, particularly if it has a bulky or irregular shape.
| Flat width | Reel length | Typical packing requirement |
|---|---|---|
| 2 in | 168m | Narrow components and small parts |
| 4 in | 168m | Compact tools and accessories |
| 6 in | 168m | Slim bundles and elongated items |
| 8 in | 168m | Medium-sized product packs |
| 10 in | 168m | Wider components |
| 12 in | 168m | Larger grouped items |
| 18 in | 168m | Wide, irregular products |
| 24 in | 168m | Bulky goods requiring a larger sleeve |
The measurements refer to the flattened tube, not its opened diameter. Suggested uses are a guide; always measure the actual item before selecting a width.
Tips for Heat-Sealing
Cut a length that allows space for the product and both end seals. Keep the film clean where it will be sealed, use appropriate equipment settings, and check the finished bag before handling or dispatch. For lighter-duty jobs where a thinner film is suitable, our 250G Medium Layflat Tubing range is also available.
